Hey guys! Its been a long time since the last post and I apologize! I should be posting more work! Its has become really tricky to find time to paint something for myself. Being a lead in a studio really takes most of your time away.. and on top of that you come back home for more!! (I love freelancing ![=)]( "=) (Smile)")

He was such an nice dog and I liked him very much even though I always fought him for a space on the sofa... anyways, heres to a great dog! Cheers with tea!

Que onda todos! Ya vlvio a pasar mucho tiempo desde la ultima vez que publique un trabajo y la verdad me disculpo! deberia estar posteando mas seguido!, pero se ha vuelto muy complicado encontrar tiempo para dibujar algo para mi. Trabajar como lead en estudio realmente te termina robando casi todo tu tiempo... y encima de eso regreso a mi casa a hacer freelance!! (me encanta hacer freelance y que! jajaja)
Hay una cantidad increible de personajes que quiero subir en cuanto me aprueben la peticion en el estudio, pero mientras tanto aqui les va una pieza inspirada en el fallecido perrito de mi novia![:'(]( "Crying")
Su nomre era Grisi y era un excelente perrrito al cual yo llegue a querer mucho a pesar de que siempre me peleaba con el por un lugar en el sillon... en fin, salud con te para un gran perrito!

Warrior Bear
Hey guys!
I've been working in Kiwi inc for quite a while now, its been almost two years since I started in late 2011 and I've been meaning to post some of the work I've done in that time.
I moved from Guadalajara, Mexico to the SF bay area to work with the company, and even though its been hard for me to leave family and friends behind, I have had a blast living over here. When i first came up here the team had around 10 people working on 2 games, and now, after almost 2 years it has grown to 160+ and we have had great success in the Google play with many top 10 games in the top grossing category.
But anyways, this character is very dear to me because this was the first thing I did as part of kiwi. He belongs to a game called "Brightwood Adventures".
Right now I have probably done around 200+ characters for this company, it would be awesome to post all of them here, but it is kind of hard due to conflicting NDA's.
But hey! I hope you enjoy this guy! and it was great to get say hi one more time!

Here is "Warrior Bear's son!"
This guy is one of the characters that I enjoyed the most working on!. This little dude has a very big roll on the sequel to Brightwood Adventures, and honestly, to me, the new one makes him look super cool and almost like a knight!... but hey! these are his origins... just an independent, sort of revel cub that dreams of becoming a warrior like his father!

Always on my mind
Hey guys! I could not stand anymore not posting here for so long and I just had to seat down for a moment and draw just so I could share something with you!
Let me share a bit of what has happened to me lately:
1.- I recently got married! and we are having the time of our life! This piece is actually not exactly her but its quite easy to see the similarities if you know her... I know, I know, I'm a hopeless romantic, what can I say? I freaking love my wife!
2.- I'm starting to consider doing commissions through Deviant Art..... :0
3.- I have said this waaaay to many times, but Im at a point where I just dont thing I can keep putting up with it... I want... no... I NEED to post more often!!! You see, there is a lot of stuff going on in my life all the time: wife, friends, work, freelance, travels... netflix (who am I kidding right? ;D ) and these thing just make it really hard to keep up with posting new stuff, so that is why I might just start either taking commissioned work from you guys, or simply establish a day of the week to post stuff no matter what! I will let you know soon enough which of these two will happen first.
Anyways.. too many words for a single post. I'm just excited to finally get to share something with you guys again, please leave you comments because I always read every single one ok? you guys help me a lot with your feedback, so, don't be shy and let me know your thoughts!

Sci-Fi Roller girl
Hey guys!
Look out! two uploads in less than a week? what does this madness mean you may ask?
Well, I am a big fan of Star Wars and I wanted to make a piece for this may 4th (props to you if you know why ;D) but I couldn't finish due to my current work load (big surprise huh?) So... In the mean time, here is a some how sic-fi illustration I did for a friend's protect that apparently never came trough.
So.. please enjoy this piece while I keep polishing that star wars piece to the point where it will deserve your views and favorites!

Leonardo leads
Hey guys!
It's no secret that I like the TMNT, I love the original cartoon, I have a ton of toys, loved the snes games the 90's movie... you know, all of that good stuff! Not too long ago me and my wife went to watch the new movie, and boy did I hated it!... well, most of it... some parts are quite cool but all in all it was quite a let down for me.
Anyway, first thing I knew about this new movie (besides that thing about wanting to make the turtles an alien race ;S) was that the character design was rather weird. I'm not going to lie, I did not like the direction the took, it felt like it was trying too hard to be hip and good for close ups (tons of unnecessary stuff on the turtles). So I thought.. hey! I see potential in these designs! Why not give them the "Reevolver treatment" and see what happens!
Well this is what happen, I obviously didn't do a realistic design like the one in the movie, I chose to take the designs and play with them in my own style.
Let me know if you guys like this dude! if enough people ask for the rest of the turtles I'll render them all! I already designed Raph and Mikey. I'm still working on Donnie because he is my favorite of them all!
So make sure you let me know if you want the rest ok?

Les comparto que tuve el placer de trabajar con mis amigos de Exodo Animation Studio (www.exododw.com) para juntos trabajar en la nueva imagen de el equipo de baseball "Charros Jalisco".
Parece ser que ya los presentaron en rueda de prensa y que inclusive ya hay anuncios en el estadio y medios de comunicación, así que espero que no haya problema con subirlos aqui tambien jajaja.

Skull Island Line Up
During the 3 years or so I worked at Kiwi Inc I had the opportunity to do a TON of character design. I can't lie about it... I LOVED being able to do so!
Working at a company that produces mobile games has a huge advantage over a movie studio... and that is the sheer amount of character that you end up producing. Movie studios offer the experience of becoming a master at polishing tasks, but usually over a small number of characters.
Anyway, this is not a games studio vs movie studio essay, lets just leave it at "they both offer unique experiences"
Back to these designs
This game is called "Skull Island", and sadly my friends, you cannot look for it on Google play since Kiwi inc never actually launched it![:(]( ":( (Sad)")
. This cancellations happen for a number of reasons, sometimes the timing isn't right, the numbers don't add up for a profit or whatever.
This game was based on the story of tarzan... the product managers wanted the characters to look somehow disney, but at the same time nothing like it (hows that for a challenge?) and me and the art team composed of Luigi Lucarelli, Kelly Perry and Shawn Peters ended up creating tons of concepts for that goal. Ultimatelly I took over the final polish task and did a whole new pass on the ideas that worked best on our opinion.
I think this level of presentation is good enough to show you guys what the final line up would have looked like had the game launched. These are not at the point where I would call them "Ready" but the level of polish is actually pretty interesting to look at, so, here you go!.
I'll leave it up to you to figure out what each character roll was supposed to be... ultimately, that is my job as a character designer right? to make designs that can tell a story![=D]( "=D (Big Grin)")

Skull Island splash-screen
Here is what would have been the spash screen to the game "Skull Island"
I shouldnt take all the merit here, my great friend Kelly Perry did the first pass on this illustration and helped a lot in figuring out the colors. Check out her work at www.kperryart.com/
Anyway! I had a lot of fun trying to figure out a way to portray Greystoke (Tarzan) and Jane here... I wanted to show and adventurous Tarzan and a not very experienced rope swinging Jane while being totally hook on each other.... oh romance!

Shooters - characters concept
Hey guys, more old concept art!
This one was for a game called "Shooters" and it was kind of a "Time crisis" kind of game.
These characters were developed to be the main characters, you know, male and female avatar sort of deal, and obviously it all took place in the wild west!
We had a conversation about making the main character some sort of hero a la Lone Ranger, but that didnt go trough at the end.
Anyway, one important thing to learn here is that these characters where made for mobile games, and that is why they are simple and easy on the eyes... they need to read well at a small scale and also have a good contrast distribution so that limbs, core, head and other stuff stand out.
So, I hope you find this interesting, enjoy!

Ballistics - Line up
Here is a very eclectic line up!
This game was a VERY interesting one... It is kind of a "Worms" type of game and the characters were supposed to offer as much variety as a game like street fighter would, so, considering the story (which sadly I cant share) I took advantage of and went to town designing different races and the technology each race would have. Anyway, development continued and a colleague ended up expanding the character line up even more.
So, again, I think this line up is very very open in the sense that these guys dont seem to share anything other than the style the were drawn in, and well, that was exactly the case because we really wanted to make each character stand out and be attractive as individual purchases later on.
I dont know about you guys but my favorite is the panda... that is the "Tank" character in the game and he attacks primarily with the guns sitting on his shoulders, but he also carries a huge beam canon that in order to use he would need to anchor himself to the ground with the anchors he has on each arm!

Here is another one of the turtles inspired on the designs from the latest movie. I was planing on releasing all 4 of them but time has been an issue.. and even more than that, I've been suffering a lot from the occasional carpal tunnel syndrome![:(]( ":( (Sad)")

Anyway, I would like to share with you this version of Raph I did even if its not highly rendered like Leonardo, I still think the design is actually pretty cool!

Brightwood Adventures 2 Line Up
Hey everybody!
So, for this next line up post I want to share with you the work done for a little game called "Brightwood Adventures 2"
This is one of the games that actually made it out in the market and had a pretty good run as well!, I believe it was featured in the play store for a while.
Anyway, this game is the sequel to a another game I worked on as well, sadly this game has been pulled already and cant be downloaded anymore![:(]( ":( (Sad)")
(Live operations are pretty expensive for most games!)
The entire idea here is that the main character (Wally the bear) has become and adult and he goes looking for adventures in the forest along his friends. They are part of this sort of army that keeps the town safe, that is the reason they are all dressed in this "ready for battle" kind of suits.
I cant really explain the entire story because is quite long, but that is the basic premise![=D]( "=D (Big Grin)")
I will be posting a better render of Wally the bear as well as a quick tutorial soon!

Bobcat Character
Hi again!

Ready to play
Insomnia strikes again!.. I had a hard time trying to sleep yesterday, so I did what I usually do when this happens... Draw some more ![=D]( "=D (Big Grin)")
This really helps! I tired myself enough to a 7 hours sleep (shocking record for me these days anyway) hope you like it!

Pin Up Nesting
Siempre estoy probando nuevos estilos y ahora le toco turno al gran maestro Gil Elvgreen!... Desafortunadamente todavia no cuento con suficiente tiempo para pintar una obra personal con mas tiempo devido a la carga de trabajo que tengo, pero aun asi siempre encontrare la manera de conseguir un par de horas en las noches para practicar un ratito... I'm always trying out different styles, now it was time to honour the great master Gil Elvgreen!... Unfortunately I still do not have enough time to make a high end painting because of work load, but I can always push a couple of hours during the night to make this illustrations.. hope you like it!

That Tattooed Girl
Hey Guys! Its been a bit hard to find some real time to paint... but I just can't stop painting for fun! otherwise this becomes a job like any other.. I saw the picture of a girl in the internet that I really liked, So I decided to draw something out of what I remember of this picture, and added some other things that I personaly find interesting, like the ring with the word YEAH ![=)]( "=) (Smile)")

Hey como estan? Me ha costado trabajo encontrar tiempo para sentarme a dibujar.. pero no importa! de algun lado termino tomando algunas horas para dibujar por diversion, de otro modo esto se volveria un trabajo como cualquier otro.. El otro dia vi la fotografia de una chava en internet que me gusto mucho y decidi dibujarla pero solo a partir de lo que recordaba de la imagen.. eso y agregando algunos detalles estras que me parecen interesantes, como los anillos que forma la palabra YEAH!![=)]( "=) (Smile)")

Taller de diseno de personajes
Hola a todos!
Me acaban de confirmar 2 talleres de Creacion de personajes en el Tec de Monterrey Campus Monterrey!
Estos talleres son parte de Diseno Punto MX, el increible symposium que orgniza el Tec cada ano con grandes expositores de talla mundial!
Yo estare impartiendo 2 talleres
Miércoles 26 de octubre de 6pm a 8pm.
y el Jueves 27 de octubre de 5pm a 7pm.
Disculpen lo apresurado del anuncio porque esto ya es la proxima semana!
